“Julia was so wonderful at listening, learning, and most importantly supporting. My husband and I were very grateful for her during this time because she knew how important this journey was for us. We knew immediately that she would be an amazing doula because of her love and passion for babies and respect and understanding to parents.”

Christina Crosland (Full Spectrum Doula)

I am a Birth and Postpartum Doula and Lactation Consultant. I’m here to assist women and families during pregnancy, birth & postpartum. I started my birthwork journey in 2016. I’ve had the pleasure of supporting nearly 100 families thus far on my Journey. I have always been empowered by the strength of women and the beauty of birth since I was a young child. This is why I became a professional Birthworker, or as many call it a “Doula”. Every woman deserves to have support through the monumental changes & transitions of pregnancy, birth & postpartum. I’m here to guide, educate and assist you with your Journey.

Janet Gordon (Birth & Postpartum Doula)

I have been a birth and postpartum doula for over 13 years; part time at first and full-time since 2021. I am the mother of two terrific young adult sons as well as numerous pet children! My own birth and postpartum experiences were unexpectedly challenging, both physically and emotionally. A wonderful postpartum doula helped me find my confidence and enabled me to relax and grow into motherhood through her non-judgmental support and caring guidance. Her example and how she impacted my life stirred a passion in me to do the same for others. I feel so fortunate to have found a path that not only benefits others but brings me such incredible joy. I have lived in Brewster for over 34 years and enjoy the beauty, serenity, and culture of the Hudson Valley. I love music and going to concerts, reading, hiking, and exploring this beautiful area. When not engaged in doula work, I can be found on the Empire State Trail with my canine buddy!

Alex van Inwegen (Birth & Postpartum Doula)

I am a certified birth and postpartum doula who offers a steady, grounding presence throughout the ebbs and flows of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I uplift your confidence in your parental instinct, and provide hands-on support and education along the way. I first entered the birth world in 2018, and began the shift from my previous career as a research biologist from there. My practice is informed by the years of continual education from my doula trainings, Childbirth Education Facilitator training, Spinning Babies Workshop, Manhattan Birth Doula Mentorship, and hands-on experience supporting families.

In labor and birth support, I ensure you have informed consent each step of the way. I offer comforting touch and relaxation techniques, as well as labor positions that may provide ease throughout labor. In postpartum support, I assist you in your family’s transition, attuning to you and your baby’s specific needs.

When I am not doula-ing, I am probably knitting, sipping coffee at my favorite cafe, or taking nature walks.

Angela Zago (Postpartum Doula)

Angela is a mother, grandmother, and postpartum doula with years of experience. She is trained in lactation, infant feeding, and is CPR certified. Angela is passionate about her role as a postpartum doula. “Newborns are incredibly precious and helpless, often receiving the best care we can provide. However, birthing mothers don’t always receive the same level of essential care. When I had my first baby long ago, I realized how crucial it is to support mothers during their postpartum period. This realization led me to advocate for mothers after the birth of their babies. I started by offering support to family and friends, and over time, I recognized that I had been acting as a postpartum doula all along. Additionally, I have over 15 years of experience working with children and teenagers from my babysitting background. Furthermore, I have provided counseling to parents, children, and teenagers through nearly two decades of volunteer work at my church.”

Amber Thomas (Birth Doula)

Hello, my name is Amber and I am a certified Birth Doula. I have always known my purpose in life has been to be a mother and to help others. Taking advantage of the last few years, I have spent a lot of time researching and honing my knowledge for birthwork. I was called to this position knowing the genuine care I can provide a pregnant person in the form of empowerment, emotional/physical support, and education. I provide a safe space for all birthing people and look forward to working with you!

Daisy Veloz (Birth & Postpartum Doula)

I provide birth support and overnight support to new and experienced parents, allowing them to rest and recover while I take care of their little ones. I will support your baby and parenting needs to ensure a peaceful night’s sleep. I am also a Pediatric CPR and First Aid instructor. I understand the joy and challenge that comes with welcoming a new baby into your life. I feel honored to support women and families with my experience.

Johanna Forney (Postpartum Doula)

As a childhood care professional for over 15 years, my switch to Postpartum Doula work is the perfect next step in providing not only support, but education in those beautiful early days post-birth. Being a mental health advocate in my birthwork, as well as in my personal life, I strive to provide unwavering support and a safe space for people from all walks of life, daily structures, family dynamics, LGBTQIA+ families, and so much more. Everyone deserves to have the most supportive and caring environment in those VITAL first weeks/months after birth, because it really does “take a village”.
